The Third Alaya Hotel designed by GKAI was the site of a chaotic grouping of rooms, terraced down a very steep site off Jalan Jembawan, in the central town area of Ubud. GKAI were commissioned to demolish the existing hotel, keeping only the existing swimming pool, and design a sister hotel to the already completed Alaya, not far away in Jalan Hanoman. The architecture and feel of the Alaya Jembawan, turned out to feel like a true Ubud Hotel, taking advantage of its steep site, for every room to look out on the tropical bamboo vegetation that follows the river valley at the back of the site… Staying at the Alaya Jembawan is unmistakably an Ubud Bali experience.
